Dr. Harvey Sterns, Executive Vice President

Dr. Harvey L. Sterns is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Institute for Life-Span Development and Gerontology at The University of Akron and Research professor of Gerontology at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Dr. Sterns is Chair of the Specialization in Industrial Gerontological Psychology which is part of the nationally-recognized program in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology M.A./Ph.D. program. He is also a faculty member in the M.A./Ph.D. program in Applied Cognitive Aging. Dr. Sterns is an internationally-recognized expert in worker training and retraining and career development. He has been principal investigator on numerous federal, state, and local grants as well as funded by national and regional foundations. For close to 30 years, Dr. Sterns has been training personnel in corporations and social service provider agencies. Personnel trained include organization leadership, manager and supervisors, professionals, and technicians. He has developed curriculum and training programs for industry and service providers. Dr. Sterns has conducted numerous projects for the Ohio Department of Aging, including overseeing the projects in developing the state funding formula for Older Americans Act programs and in specifying Ohio's current and future personnel needs for an aging population.
